Abstract

The Mama Sayang Program is an innovation in primary health care aimed at strengthening early detection of cervical and breast cancer through IVA and SADANIS examinations based on community empowerment. This qualitative evaluative study examined its implementation, diffusion process, and level of acceptance at the Sukodono Community Health Center using Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovation Theory. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, document review, and source triangulation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings indicate that the program fulfills Rogers’ five innovation attributes: relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, trialability, and observability. It offers easier service access and a comfortable environment (relative advantage), integrates with PKK activities and community health posts (compatibility), provides simple education with visual media (low complexity), includes mobile services (trialability), and shows visible impacts through increased participation and positive feedback (observability). Health cadres and medical personnel play a key role as change agents in accelerating diffusion. Overall, the Mama Sayang Program effectively increases women’s knowledge, awareness, and participation in early cancer detection and has strong potential to serve as a replicable model for community-based health innovation in other primary health care settings
